Behavioral modeling of power line communication channels for automotive applications

    Get PDF
The black-box modeling of a power line communication channel in a car is addressed in this paper. The proposed behavioral approach is based on the so-called multipath model representation, that describes the transmission of a signal on a possibly complex power network by means of a finite number of delayed echoes. Model parameters are estimated from the frequency-domain response of the channel via a well-defined modeling procedure. A first assessment on the inclusion in the model equation of the variability of the response of the channel is carried out. The effectiveness of the approach has been demonstrated on a set of real measurements carried out on a commercial automobil

Parametric Macromodels of Digital I/O Ports

    Get PDF
This paper addresses the development of macromodels for input and output ports of a digital device. The proposed macromodels consist of parametric representations that can be obtained from port transient waveforms at the device ports via a well established procedure. The models are implementable as SPICE subcircuits and their accuracy and efficiency are verified by applying the approach to the characterization of transistor-level models of commercial devices

Steady-State Response of Periodically Switched Linear Circuits via Augmented Time-Invariant Nodal Analysis

This paper focuses on the simulation of periodically switched linear circuits. The basic notation and theoretical framework is presented, with emphasis on the differences between the linear time-invariant and the time-varying cases. For this important class of circuits and sources defined by periodic signals, the computation of their steady-state response is carried out via the solution of an augmented time-invariant MNA equation in the frequency-domain. The proposed method is based on the expansion of the unknown voltages and currents in terms of Fourier series and on the automatic generation of augmented equivalents of the circuit components. The above equivalents along with the information on circuit topology allow to create, via circuit inspection, a timeinvariant MNA equation, the solution of which provides the coefficients of both the time- and the frequency-domain responses of the circuit. Analytical and numerical examples are used to stress the generality and benefits of the proposed approach

Stochastic Analysis of Switching Power Converters via Deterministic SPICE Equivalents

    Get PDF
This letter addresses the stochastic analysis of nonlinear switching power converters via an augmented circuit equivalent and a single deterministic SPICE simulation. The proposed approach is based on the expansion of the constitutive relations of the circuit elements in terms of orthonormal polynomials within the well-established framework of polynomial chaos. The feasibility and strength of the method are demonstrated on a dc–dc boost converter described by either detailed nonlinear components or via its averaged linear circuit. Excellent modeling accuracy as well as remarkable speed-ups compared to traditional sampling-based approaches are achieved

    Temperature-Dependent Macromodels of Digital Device

This paper addresses the development of a temperature-dependent parametric macromodel for the output ports of a digital IC. The model parameters are estimated from port transient voltage and current waveforms by means of a simple and efficient procedure. The obtained models are implemented as SPICE subcircuits. They perform at an accuracy and efficiency level suitable for system-level SI and EMC simulations
